Brodec, North Macedonia – April 11, 2025
As part of the DIANA (Developing Inclusive and Accessible Natural Areas) project, an engaging outdoor training session took place in the picturesque village of Brodec, North Macedonia, offering participants both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in inclusive outdoor practices.
The training, organized by the Macedonian partner ABAT BALKANIA in a two-part format, combined classroom learning with real-world application.
The day began with theoretical sessions held at Bilki Life, a local social enterprise known for its commitment to herbal tourism and inclusive tourism for people with disabilities. Here, 12 participants explored key concepts around accessibility, inclusive design in nature, and the role of guides in supporting people with diverse abilities.

In the afternoon, the group moved outdoors for a series of practical exercises and outdoor activities, putting theory into action. The highlight of the day was a bonus hands-on session in an adapted garden, specially designed for people with disabilities. Participants worked directly with special tools tailored to different physical needs, gaining valuable experience in creating and maintaining accessible natural spaces.

The training concluded with a certification ceremony and final group discussions, where participants reflected on their learning and the importance of inclusive approaches in environmental tourism and education.
This training in North Macedonia not only strengthened practical skills, but also reinforced the DIANA project’s mission: to make nature truly accessible for all — through collaboration, training, and a shared commitment to inclusion.
